I hope this resource list can be expanded to include adult programs. Maybe programs can be run concurrently for parents/adults as these folks make the decisions about how their property is managed and impacting their nearby lakes.

I know Geneva, NY has done community reads, and I see that there are a number of people in the area - it would be great to do a "Finger Lakes Read" of a lake-related book, with presentations and events throughout the region!

IF you're in a Great Lakes watershed, I'd highly recommend "The Death and Life of the Great Lakes" by Dan Eagan. I read it, had my book club read it, and then went to his presentation at the Cary Institute in NY. Great book and presenter.

I wonder if it would possible for libraries to have secchi disc and some simple monitoring tools that could be be loaned out during July? Our local library has gardening tools that they lend out and seed giveaway….

Rotary International has added environmental proactivity to its short listing of major focuses. It is also involved in literacy worldwide. Perhaps contacting your local Rotary Service Club would be a helpful collaboration for involvement with school system.
